Junto a una dulce fuente, que sonora
su armonía formaba de cristales,
la hermosa causa de mis fieros males
durmiendo estaba al despertar la aurora.

Mas como Cintia duerme, no colora
el cielo los balcones orientales,
los ríos no apresuran sus raudales,
ni el prado de claveles viste Flora;

no se oye de las aves la armonía,
ni alentaron las auras lisonjeras
las rosas que su espíritu esperaban;

mas luego al despertar la ninfa mía,
quedaron flores, aves, fuente, fieras
de la misma manera que se estaban.
