En nuestra edad el más ferviente afecto
Fabio que la flaqueza humana atiza,
como no se alimenta de ceniza
accidente perece sin sujeto.
Y reprimido no será de efecto,
más si la negligencia le autoriza,
y sus atrevimientos solemniza,
a la razón le perderá el respeto.
Es de la juventud muy floreciente
objeto deleitable la hermosura,
que grandes bienes le dispone o males.
Más la vejez inútil y cadente
sólo ha de contemplar la sepultura,
y los premios y penas inmortales.
