Este sitio que ciñe caudalosa
de líquido Cristal crespa corriente,
estéril playa vi de arena ardiente
a los Vientos palestra polvorosa.
La cultura después artificiosa,
le redujo a jardín tan floreciente
que compitieron inefablemente
en el Lirio, Tulipán, y Rosa.
De nuevo yace con rigor violento
de la pompa frondosa despejado,
dando a plantas y flores escarmiento.
Y a conocer en polvo sepultado,
que de la Tierra el más feliz aumento
nace sujeto a fin más desastrado.
