De amor dichoso desdichado efecto,
y tan infelizmente malogrado,
que el ser que me debiste te ha costado
la privación del soberano objeto.

Bárbara la ambición, impío el afecto,
contra ti, contra el Cielo declarado,
ha en su mismo dolor sacrificado
víctima eterna a temporal respeto.

Luz antes apagada que encendida,
exhalación que la fatal violencia
pasó a la muerte sin tocar la vida.

Si el error repetido de mis años
los rayos eclipsó de tu inocencia,
tu ceguedad alumbre mis engaños.
