Que guerra, peste, hambre, embravecidas,
quiten a los remedios esperanza
justo es, y que a mayor desconfianza
aun sean las muertes más que las heridas.
Mas que de vuestra Esposa la decencia
triunfante huelle bárbaro enemigo
excede todo humano sentimiento.
Pero es estilo ya en vuestra clemencia
apurar su inocencia en el castigo
por dar a nuestra culpa el escarmiento.
