Esta máquina excelsa, esta eminente
pira, que al Sol a luces desafía
y el Orbe contener en sí debía
para ser pompa a tal Héroe decente.

Ara es donde uno y otro afecto ardiente
religiosa piedad al Cielo envía,
y el constante dolor renueva y fía
del común desconsuelo eternamente.

Con cien voces aclama, con cien ojos,
llora la Fama, en bélicos progresos,
trágicos fines, lúgubre victoria.

Al que Triunfantes mereciendo excesos
o el mismo Triunfo vino a ser despojos
y en poca tierra eclipsa tanta gloria.
