- XXXVI -
Amada soledad testigos mudos
de la tranquilidad de mis cuidados,
en estos Climas de rigor armados,
de todo afecto de ambición desnudos.
Pues de la libertad son ciegos nudos
las lucidas lisonjas de los Hados,
en mi favor los juzgo declarados
cuando se representan más sañudos.
De vuestras persuasiones instruido
que no tienen los prósperos sucesos,
en la felicidad parte ninguna.
Desestimando todos tus excesos
a la moderación sola le pido
cuanto suelo pedirle a la Fortuna.
