Ese reloj que mano soberana
(dádiva siendo) le selló de indicio,
y, haciendo más de ley el beneficio,
el estruendo excusó de la campana;

esa cadena que, en labor no vana,
suspende al tiempo su volante oficio,
reduciéndole a eterno sacrificio
(debida pompa a quien pasó de humana):

del sol de Leonor ingeniosa,
que se difunde a España desde Hungría,
es grande honor en átomo lucido,

que una vida, no más, os prevenía,
corta, Fabio, a merced tan ponderosa,
y os da el tiempo en que ser agradecido.
