- XIX -

Grandes los ojos son, la vista breve
(o amor la abrevia, porque a herir apunta);
arco es la ceja, y el mirar es punta
a quien amor sus vencimientos debe.
A su mejilla el nácar, nácar debe;
adonde en llamas de coral difunta
fuera la rosa, más su incendio junta
a la azucena de templada nieve.
El arte es superior, pero sin arte
el ingenio es acierto y no es ventura;
el andar es compás y no es cuidado.
De tantas partes no presume parte;
hermosa pudo ser sin hermosura;
yo, sin amor, viviera enamorado.
