Vivo de amor tan libre, y he vivido,
que voluntario pruebo su dolencia,
dando ejercicio a tanta resistencia
como huelga en mi pecho endurecido.

Miro la llama a la distancia asido,
siendo costumbre libre y no prudencia,
que a beldad, donde es alma la apariencia
harto le sirve el riesgo de un sentido.

Huya del mar el que en seguro suelo
los claros riesgos vio del anegado;
no tiente el mar en fe de luz divina.

Que las piedades las reserva el cielo
para quien gime a su ruina atado,
no para aquel que labra su ruina.
