Abril volante, viva primavera,
tan viva, que engañado en tus colores,
te dio el tiempo el castigo de las flores,
que el invierno a su vida parca es fiera.
No moriste, volaste a más esfera,
pues Filis hoy te anima con dolores;
bien es que muera quien cantaba amores,
yo sé quien calla, aunque de amores muera.
Tu muerte procuraste, para verte
compadecido de quien vive ajena
de dolerse de un vivo enamorado.
¡Oh infeliz en la vida, y en la muerte!
vivo, no la causaste amante pena,
muerto, no te aprovecha su cuidado.
