Soneto

De la Virgen sin par, santa y bendita
(digo, de sus loores), justamente
haces el rico, sin igual presente
al sin par cristiana Margarita.

Dándole, quedas rico, y queda escrita
tu fama en hojas de metal luciente,
que, a despecho y pesar del diligente
tiempo, será en sus fines infinita:

¡felice en el sujeto que escogiste,
dichoso en la ocasión que te dio el cielo
de dar a Virgen el virgíneo canto;

venturoso también porque hiciste
que den las musas del hispano suelo
admiración al griego, al turco espanto.
