¿Adónde sufriré mi desventura?
que ya cansó la gente en lo poblado;
ya todos mis amigos me han dejado,
huyendo del temor de mi tristura.

En la agradable selva y espesura
las aguas de las fuentes me han faltado,
y teme el triste cuerpo fatigado
que al fin le ha de faltar la sepultura.

Hasta los animales escondidos
en la áspera montaña y sierra fría,
huyen del triste son de mis gemidos;

mas si volvéis por mí, señora mía,
hallaréis que en los campos extendidos,
ni en lo poblado, cabe mi alegría.
