Hame traído amor a tal partido
que no puedo ni quiero conocerme;
cuantas armas tenía le he rendido,
pues le di la razón para vencerme.
Hombre nací y por hombre era tenido;
pudieran seso y arte socorrerme,
el tiempo, la experiencia y el sentido;
mas todo lo dejé, y quise perderme.
Gran mal, Señora, es que el hombre entiende
cuánto aparta de sí, y no se arrepiente,
y que sabe cuan poco bien espera;
que vive y morirá de esta manera,
fuera de humana forma o accidente,
sino de querer bien; que no se aprende.
