Libro, pues que vas ante quien puede
quitar y poner leyes a su mando
ten cuenta con Damón, allá llegando
aunque Marfira más te mande y vede.
Sepas muy bien contar cuanto sucede
después que Damón vive lamentando;
y pues él va contigo allá cantando,
Marfira te oirá, que se lo debe.
En tanto quedo yo con tal recelo
cual con fortuna brava suele estar,
echando el hierro al mar, el marinero.
Lleno de afán y temeroso celo
si afierra el hierro de donde esperar
que todo afán es mero pasajero.
