Rayo de guerra, grande honor de Marte,
fatal ruina al bárbaro africano,
que en la temida España del romano
imperio levantaste el estandarte;

si al voz de la fama en esa parte
do estás puede llegar al reino vano,
temo con el vencido italiano
del osado español la fuerza y arte.

Otro mayor que tú en el yugo indino
lo puso, y un gran Leiva la victoria
de Italia conquistó en sangrienta guerra.

Y al fin un nuevo César, que al latino
en clemencia y valor ganó la gloria,
y añadió mar al mar, tierra a la tierra.
