La luz serena mía, el oro ardiente,
en mil cercos lucientes dividido,
y en dulce nieve y púrpura teñido,
casa, el color suave de la frente,
canto, y como el ingrato Amor consiente,
ciego en su esplendor bello, estoy herido,
y oscurezco sus glorias ofendido
de tanto bien, con lira y voz doliente.
Oso, y aunque el deseo me levante,
el peso es grande, y culpa mi osadía
quien amara el peligro de mi pena;
mas el cielo cansó al soberbio Atlante,
y no es mayor su empresa que la mía,
pero si el vago error que me condena.
