El corazón huido busco y llamo;
el do el rigor esfuerza el duro hielo
entra, y sin miedo pisa estéril suelo;
yo, esquivando el dolor, mis males amo.
Las lágrimas y quejas que derramo
no vencen su porfía, y sin recelo
allí se pierde, y no osa alzar el vuelo,
y su obstinado error al fin desamo.
No por que tema ya peligro alguno;
que no doy más lugar a miedo cierto,
ni admito en tanto afán remedio vano;
mas porque es poquedad ser importuno
a un lento pecho, y ser más precio muerto
que esperar la salud de ingrata mano.
