Después que en mí tentaron su crudeza
de Amor y vos las flechas y los ojos,
di honra al uno, al otro los despojos,
y sufrí saña de ambos y aspereza.

El fuego que encendió vuestra belleza
hizo dulces y alegres mis enojos,
y suave entre espinas y entre abrojos
el dolor que causaba mi tristeza.

Tuve esperanza incierta de mi ufana
muerte, viendo el valor de mi tormento;
y confié este error de mi osadía.

Mas ¡ay! que tanta gloria suerte humana
no alcanza, y no se debe al mal que siento
el bien que me negáis, Estrella mía.
