Suave Filomela, que tu llanto
descubres al sereno y limpio cielo,
si lamentaras tú mi desconsuelo,
o si alcanzara yo tu dulce canto,

prometer a mi cuita osara tanto,
que esperara el dolor algún consuelo,
y que tal vez moviera tierno celo
los ojos cuya bella lumbre canto.

Mas tú con puro acento y armonía
tu afrenta, y gimes bárbaros despojos,
yo, triste, mayor daño ausente lloro.

Quiera Amor que tu voz la pena mía
resuene, o que yo alivie mis enojos
vuelto en ti, ruiseñor blando y canoro.
