Probó atento el artífice dichoso
a la imagen impresa y forma pura
hacer no inferior la hermosura,
por quien Betis va al piélago pomposo.
La gracia dio, dio el resplandor hermoso
que en la nieve la púrpura figura,
lumbre que a la tiniebla vence oscura,
mas que todos osado y temeroso;
pero la majestad de la belleza
tierna, y serena gloria de la frente,
y ojos dulces do el blando amor se cría,
no pudo, y justo fue que su rudeza
vuestra beldad no alcance floreciente,
sola entre tantas, ¡oh ínclita María!
