Nunca mi mal terrible sentiría,
ni descansar querría de mi pena,
si cuidase tal vez que mi serena
luz alegre y suave me sería;

mas no sufre la indina suerte mía
esta gloria, y de sí la aparta ajena,
y a rendir la esperanza me condena,
porque osé y di lugar a esta osadía.

Haga el cielo que pierda en menor daño
la memoria de aquel atrevimiento
que tuve en ver mi afán no aborrecido,

cuando agradó a mi bien que en dulce engaño
sufriese ufano y ledo el mal que siento:
mas ¿qué vale a quien muere en tibio olvido?
