Si puede celebrar mi rudo canto
la luz de vuestro ingenio y la nobleza,
tendrá perpetua gloria con grandeza
de fama en el dorado y rico manto.

Pero si de mi mal no me levanto
y Amor me ocupa todo en la belleza,
sola y grave ocasión de mi tristeza,
por quien suspiro y me deshago en llanto,

será en cuanto sostenga la alma mía
el duro peso, sin temor de olvido,
siempre vuestro valor de mí estimado,

porque el sosiego, trato y cortesía
a vos todo me tienen ofrecido,
¡oh ilustre honor del nombre Maldonado!
