Pienso en mi pena atento y mal presente,
y procuro algún medio al daño instante;
pero soy en mi bien tan inconstante,
que vuelvo a la ocasión la incierta frente.

Cuando me aparto y cuido estar ausente,
menos de mi peligro estoy distante;
voy siempre con mis culpas adelante,
sin que de tantos yerros escarmiente.

Noble vergüenza mía, que el perdido
valor sientes, ¿por qué no abrasa el pecho
y vence tu virtud mi desvarío?

Si del error y sombra del olvido
me sacas, diré, en honra de este hecho,
que sólo debo a ti poder ser mío.
