¿Qué bello nudo y fuerte me encadena
con tierno ardor, en quien amor airado
me enciende el corazón, y en un cuidado
duro y terrible siempre me enajena?
El oro que al Gange indo en su ancha vena
luciente orna, y en hebras dilatado,
con luengo cerco y terso ensortijado,
gentil corona en blanca frente ordena.
¡Oh vos, que al sol vencido, prestáis fuego,
en quien mi pensamiento no medroso
las alas metió libre, y perdió el vuelo!
Lazos que me estrecháis, mi pecho ciego
abrasad, porque en prez del mal penoso
segura mi fe rinda su recelo.
