Tú, que con la robusta y ancha frente
y grandes hombros sustentaste, alzado,
rey africano, todo el consagrado
cerco de las estrellas reluciente;

y tú, que cuando Atlante temblar siente
la inmensa carga, sin doblar cansado
el vigor de tu cuello, levantado,
sufriste tanto peso osadamente,

yo no os envidio, aunque en la grandeza
y en valor desigual, porque el sereno
cielo y estrellas, do el Amor se cría

y donde reina eterna la belleza,
sostuve glorioso y de bien lleno
cuanto sufrió la corta suerte mía.
