Así perturbe pluvia nunca o viento
tus bellas ondas, sacro hesperio río,
y a tu nombre se incline el Ebro frío,
y el Tebro, el Nilo, el Istro violento;

si a piedad te mueve mi tormento,
do siempre muero y sin temor porfío,
ausente entre mil males del bien mío,
sin que pueda aun valerme el pensamiento,

en estos troncos guarda mi cuidado,
y en estas peñas mi gemido y pena
tus naides suenen con lloroso canto;

que nadie habrá que habiendo aquí aportado,
lea mi mal, y con la faz serena
pase, y no bañe el rostro en tierno llanto.
