Sola y en alto mar, sin luz alguna,
con tempestad sañosa yace y viento
mi popa abierta, y no abre el negro asiento
del cielo la confusa incierta luna.
Esperanza, Arellano, ya ninguna
procuro, ni se debe al pensamiento;
fallecen fuerza y arte, y triste siento
la muerte apresurárseme importuna.
Pues el amor me olvida y cierra el puerto,
y veo en las reliquias de mi nave
que el ponto esparce y vuelve mis despojos,
la veste y armas de este amante muerto
colgad, que restan del naufragio grave,
a la ara de mis bellos dulces ojos.
