De bosque en bosque, de uno en otro llano,
solo, en medroso horror y sombra oscura,
voy suspirando ausente, y la luz pura
busco, que me encubrió el amor tirano.
Corto el río y traspaso el monte en vano;
que no se debe más a mi ventura;
el bien que la esperanza me procura
huye y se me desliza de la mano.
En este duro estrecho me lamento,
porque sea mi daño manifiesto
y alguno se conduela en mi cuidado.
No cohorta al fin esto mi tormento;
que tanto mi dolor es más molesto
cuanto de ajeno pecho más llorado.
