Del fiero Marte el canto numeroso
y de la selva olvido, y verde prado
la avena, porque vuelvo al fin cuitado,
en gloria de quien turba mi reposo;
de aquel cruel, que fuerte y poderoso,
terror de hombres y dioses y cuidado,
me forzó a tolerar el mal de grado,
y en mi pasión me agrada estar lloroso.
El silencio, el semblante descontento
y el confuso gemido es muestra abierta
de mi penoso y luengo desvarío.
No me duele aunque inmenso, mi tormento;
duéleme que mi pena, a todos cierta,
no conozca quien causa el error mío.
