Amor con todo el fuego que el humoso
Etna espira y las islas de Vulcano
me abrasa el pecho, que asegura en vano
a su mortal ardor algún reposo.
Con la nieve que el Caúcaso nevoso
y el desnudo Rífeo hace cano,
mi alma enfría, y rompe el inhumano
a la esperanza el paso temeroso;
que en los ojos do siempre el hielo y llama
suya en mi muerte acuerdan, fijo tiene
el ímpetu y furor de su braveza;
y por vengarse más, la seca rama
do estoy asido sin quebrar sostiene,
probando en nuevas penas mi flaqueza.
