Desea descansar de tanta pena,
conociendo ya tarde el desengaño,
mi alma, hecha a su dolor extraño,
y del perdido tiempo se condena.
Ve su triste esperanza de ansias llena,
poco bien, mucho mal, perpetuo daño,
y las glorias debidas cierto engaño,
que el su dulce tirano al fin ordena.
Siente sus fuerzas flacas y sin brío,
y su deseo vano y peligroso,
y medrosa levanta apena el vuelo.
Amor, porque no crezca en ella el frío,
el fuego aviva do arde, y sin reposo
busca y gime, hallando luz del cielo.
