Si Amor el generoso y dulce aliento
en mi rendido pecho ardiendo inspira,
yo ufano ensalzaré con noble lira
la hermosa ocasión de mi tormento.

Aquel que en tierno y nuevo y alto acento
celebró el verde lauro en quien espira
Erato, y a quien sigue, honra y admira
de Italia bella el docto ayuntamiento,

Oiría en le puro Elisio prado
entre felices almas la armonía
que llevaría deleitosa el aura,

y diría, del canto arrebatado:
«O es esta la suave lira mía,
o Betis, cual mi Sorga, tiene a Laura».
