De vos ausente, ocupa en llanto el día,
y la noche me acoge en mi lamento,
y para más dolor, conmigo cuento
mi breve bien perdido y alegría.

Vuestro duro rigor ya bien debía
enternecerse de mi sentimiento,
y descubrirme en tanto apartamiento
un rayo solo de la lumbre mía.

Pero si vos queréis con este olvido
alentar la pasión que me maltrata,
lo hecho sobra ya para venganza.

Mas aunque en soledad y aborrecido,
no podréis, aunque más podáis, ingrata,
que yo no os ame, ajeno de esperanza.
