Volved, suaves ojos, la luz pura,
si a esto da lugar vuestra grandeza,
y templad mi dolor, que la dureza
no cabe en vuestra inmensa hermosura.
La soberbia y desdén harán oscura
la mucha claridad de vuestra alteza,
y no es blasón de singular belleza
trocar en mal el bien de mi ventura.
Después que Amor dejó, serenos ojos,
por vos el celeste orbe, el dulce puesto
mejoró alegre en vos, y honró la tierra.
Mirad o no mi cuita y mis enojos
(¡tal es mi noble afán!), yo estoy dispuesto
para morir ufano en esta guerra.
