Lloré y canté de amor la saña ardiente,
y lloro y canto ya la ardiente saña
de esta cruel, por quien mi pena extraña
ningún descanso al corazón consiente.
Esperé y temí el bien tal vez ausente,
y espero y temo al mal que me acompaña,
y en un error, que en soledad me engaña,
me pierdo sin provecho vanamente.
Veo la noche antes que huya el día,
y la sombra crecer, contrario agüero.
¿Mas qué me vale conocer mi suerte?
La dura obstinación de mi porfía
no cansa ni se rinde al dolor fiero,
mas siempre va al encuentro de mi muerte.
