¿Qué espíritu encendido Amor envía
en este frío corazón esquivo,
que con la alba en calor el pecho avivo
y ardo al aparecer del nuevo día?

Yo me inflamo si a Febo se desvía
la sombra, y cuando de aquel puesto altivo
declina el sol, me quemo en fuego vivo
y abraso, cuando el mar tuerce la vía.

Centella soy, si el lubricán parece;
llama, cuando se ven las luces bellas
y el blanco rostro a Delia se colora;

fuego soy cuando el orbe se adormece;
incendio, al esconder de las estrellas;
y ceniza al volver de nuevo aurora.
