Si fuera esta la misma de belleza
luz que mi dulce rey pintó serena,
juzgando lo que siento de mi pena,
pensara en ella ver vuestra grandeza;
mas tanta gloria y bien mortal flaqueza
no admite, y del deseo me condena,
que Amor no sufre, oh celestial sirena,
ni sufre veros cerca vuestra alteza.
Y es justo; que si viera de otra suerte,
creciera con tal ímpetu mi llama,
que mis cenizas fueran los despojos.
Mas, oh dichoso yo si de tal muerte
acabara; que el fuego que me inflama,
cual fénix me avivara en vuestros ojos.
