Si a mi triste memoria en hondo olvido
desierta sepultase sombra oscura,
jamás yo ausente en mísera figura
lamentaría el daño no debido;
mas preséntela llevo, y voy perdido
por cierto error a estrecha desventura,
y es muerte fiera él, ya de mi ventura
rico despojo al corazón caído.
De mi gloria me acuerdo para pena,
del mal para dolor, y nunca veo
o pienso cosa ajena de mi engaño.
Pobre de bien mi suerte, y de afán llena
fue; y aunque no, bastara mi deseo
para no dar lugar al desengaño.
