Muestra de breve bien, que huye luego,
antes que la ocasión vuelva la frente,
fueron las que el Amor halló presente,
con que mi alma ardió en su eterno fuego;
pero glorias de un niño solo y ciego,
que presto las deshace un accidente,
¿Cómo pueden valer a un pecho ausente,
que no sabe que es tiempo de sosiego?
Alcé mis esperanzas sobre arena,
que el viento aparta y lleva sin concierto,
y no temo los golpes de mudanza;
cayeron, y el amor, por mayor pena,
quedó en la saltas nubes descubierto,
con temor, y sin fuerza y confianza.
