Eustacio, yo seguí al Amor tirano
esperando en su fe, por dolor mío;
que al intenso rigor y ardiente estío
prometido descanso busqué en vano.
Veo, y se me desliza de la mano,
la ocasión, y aunque en este invierno frío
inundo en luengo llanto el hondo río,
siento crecer el mal más inhumano.
Vos, a quien Febo dio la dulce lira
y la arte gloriosa de Melampo,
remediad la pasión de un vuestro amigo;
que la poción de aquella que suspira
por su cruel belleza el frigio campo,
tal vez podrá tener valor conmigo.
