Cuando rendía la arrogante frente
el ya vencido reino lusitano,
y de Filipo el brazo soberano
ponía el freno estrecho al Occidente,
con fiero influjo, con señal ardiente,
que dio sospecha y dio temor no en vano,
el cielo se llevo con dura mano
la luz más pura de Austria y excelente;
mas, de estrelladas hebras coronada,
esculpió entre los astros su belleza,
do alegre mira el rico hesperio suelo.
¡Cuánto puedes virtud, que arrebatada
de esta humildad a la inmortal grandeza,
eres amor, y eres honor del cielo!
