Cuando de mi Luz bella el desdén siento
y fenecer mi gloria en tibio olvido,
huyo señero y triste, aborrecido,
el áspero dolor de mi tormento.

Mis vanas esperanzas represento,
el poco bien, el mucho mal sufrido,
y ausente, despagado y ofendido,
mi libertad dorada osado intento.

Pero si vos después rendido el cuello
y viéredes colgados mis despojos,
dudad las duras armas de amor ciego;

que en las lucientes hebras del cabello
y alegre fucilar de alegres ojos
preso me pierdo todo, y ardo en fuego.
