La hidra de amoroso pensamiento,
que rota del acero siempre crece,
contienda áspera a la alma triste ofrece,
rendida a la impía fuerza del tormento.

Si del olvido justo y sentimiento
la aguda espada en ella se entorpece,
y con su daño fértil reverdece,
por un cuidado muerto alzando ciento,

forzoso es el socorro al ya cansado
Alcides del trabajo, porque en fuego
con el desdén la acabe el duro hierro;

mas recelo que en Juno Amor trocado,
la suba al cielo, y crezca en vano luego
con nueva confusión más grande el hierro.
