Yo vi a mi dulce Lumbre que esparcía
sus crespas ondas de oro al manso viento,
y con suave y tierno movimiento
mi duro corazón enternecía;
mi rustiqueza y torpe rebeldía
perdió, vencida, el obstinado intento,
y en blando y regalado sentimiento
trocó mi alma la aspereza mía.
Nunca me vi más preso ni rendido,
y nunca vi en mi Luz mayor dureza,
ni más recio desdén mi largo olvido.
A término tan grave y estrecheza,
casas, mi triste suerte me ha traído,
que temo de mi Lumbre al belleza.
