Llevarme puede bien la suerte mía
al destemplado cerco y fuego ardiente
de la abrasada Libia, o do se siente
casi perpetua sombra y noche fría,
que en la niebla tendré lumbre del día,
templanza en el calor, aunque esté ausente
de vos, mi bien, y Amor, siempre inclemente,
me niegue la esperanza de alegría.
Y no podrá mi áspero tormento,
y el inmenso dolor, que temo tanto,
turbarme un solo punto de mi gloria;
que en medio de mi grave sentimiento,
de mi hielo y mi llama, alegre, canto
de mi dichoso mal la rica historia.
