Las luces do el amor su fuerza apura
con el sereno ardor de sus centellas;
el oro crespo, en mil sortijas bellas
de rayos coronado, y llama pura;
las palabras vestidas de dulzura,
que la armonía celestial en ellas
parece, el pecho duro a mis querellas,
la mano que a la nieve vuelve oscura,
son causa del tormento y dolor mío,
con muchas que callando siento y veo,
y no me valen en mi esquiva suerte.
En su dureza sólo el bien confío;
porque a vana esperanza y gran deseo
no se debe pedir sino la muerte.
