Salen mil pensamientos al encuentro
cuando estoy más ajeno, y pueden tanto
que a pena de mis males me levanto
y ya me hallo en el peligro dentro.
Sin recelo mi afrenta sigo y entro
osando, o ciego error, para más llanto,
y aunque me esfuerzo, al fin no puedo cuanto
debo en tantas mudanzas con que encuentro.
No es la tristeza ni el dolor quien hace
la guerra que padezco de mi daño,
que el mal no espanta a quien lo tiene en uso.
El bien que temo y dudo me deshace,
que yo sé bien por el ausente engaño
juzgar de este presente el fin confuso.
