Luces en quien su luz el sol renueva,
y Cupido su llama, y las estrellas,
con cuya claridad florecen bellas
con el nocturno horror, con alba nueva.
¿Qué pesar os destiñe osado y prueba
desmayar el vigor de esas centellas?
¿Por qué no descubrís con fuerza en ellas
de vuestro puro fuego alguna prueba?
Así podrá con llanto, dulces ojos,
turbar vuestro esplendor oscuro velo,
cual nube rara al vivo ardor de Apolo.
Después que al dolor dais estos despojos,
de luto cubre Amor su faz, y el cielo
confuso yace en triste sombra y solo.
