Vuelvo al ufano corazón el día
en que mi Luz mostró su luz hermosa
y relució suave y amorosa,
bella en mis ojos igualmente y pía;

y acuérdome que el sol que descendía
paró al ardiente Flegon la espumosa
rienda, y con su tardanza espaciosa
sintió el íntimo polo ausencia fría.

Entonces, inflamado en dulce fuego,
mi gloria alabo y bien, y alegre digo:
¿cuál buena suerte alcanza mi ventura?

No el cetro del romano envidio y griego,
porque imperio mayor tiene consigo
quien ama soberana hermosura.
